Overview
Inspired by games like Minecraft, Dwarf Fortress, Factorio, and many more, I decided to pursue creating my own game. Using the Unity Engine and my ever expanding knowledge of C#, I jumped in to my first large scale games project, named after Plato's idea of a platform for all existence to materialise.
The below are some of the rendered results of my procedural texturing system. Instead of using multiple sprites, I am using a single sprite for each type of ground, which is colour replaced to allow for smooth biome transitions. This reduces the artistic workload exponentially, though increases processing demand, and subsequently is a work in progress.
This initial concept art has driven the artistic direction, and remains a spot of motivation for me. It's not perfect, but the joy of this project is the freedom to do what I like within this world I'm creating.
